Mission and Membership

Mission

To serve as a highly respected healthcare resource across Canada that fosters early diagnosis of Primary Immune Deficiencies and ensures that PI patients have access to excellent care. This is accomplished through networking, knowledge dissemination and communication with healthcare professionals, patients and the general public.

The goal is to increase the diagnosed patient base.

Objectives

  • Improve the health of Canadians who have PI.
  • Promote PI awareness in healthcare professionals.
  • Increase public awareness of PI.
  • Be a meeting ground for the PI community.
  • Provide leadership on PI health issues.
  • Encourage broad community engagement.
  • Align activities and programs, share best practices and synergize efforts.

In meeting our objectives, we welcome the participation of network sites and affiliates across Canada.

Membership

Network Site:

Each Network Site must be spearheaded by an immunologist and:

  • complete a yearly base line survey on Primary Immunodeficiency administered by the Jeffrey Modell Foundation
  • accept referrals and provide consultations on potential PI patients
  • participate in PI Webcast Series (as per a self accredited event by the Royal College of Physicians guidelines)
    • host a group and present when invited
    • fill out and submit attendance and evaluation forms
    • pre-discuss cases and suggest potential diagnosis
  • complete a profile with names of and contact information for team members
  • make every effort to attend network sponsored conferences, seminars, events
  • allow the site contact name and health care facility to be publicly recognized as a site
  • endorse and support the PI Physician Network, a program of Immunodeficiency Canada

Failure to comply may result in a physician and health care facility losing Network site status.

Network Affiliates:

Each Network Affiliates must be spearheaded by a physician working in immunology and:

  • accept referrals and provide consultations on potential PI patients
  • complete a profile with names of and contact information for team members
  • make every effort to attend network sponsored conferences, seminars, events
  • allow the affiliate contact name and health care facility to be publicly recognized as an affiliate
  • endorse and support the PI Physician Network, a program of Immunodeficiency Canada
  • participate in PI Webcast Series by hosting a group or attend individually online through webcasting
    • host a group
    • fill out and submit attendance and evaluation forms
    • pre-discuss cases and suggest potential diagnosis

And affiliates may choose to:

  •  complete a yearly base line survey on Primary Immunodeficiency administered by the Jeffrey Modell Foundation

Failure to comply may result in a physician and health care facility losing Network Affiliate status.

Teaching Institutions:

Each Teaching Institution as part of the PI Physician Network must:

  • complete a profile with names of and contact information for team members
  • make every effort to attend network sponsored conferences, seminars, events
  • allow the affiliate contact name and health care facility to be publicly recognized as a teaching institution
  • endorse and support the PI Physician Network, a program of Immunodeficiency Canada
  • participate in PI Webcast Series by hosting a group or attend individually online through webcasting
    • host a group
    • fill out and submit attendance and evaluation forms
    • pre-discuss cases and suggest potential diagnosis

Failure to comply may result in a physician and teaching institution losing Network Teaching Institution status.

Individual physicians not affiliated with a site, affiliate or teaching institution are welcome to sign up and observe PI Webcasts.
